Strawberry Acres Development Plan to be Revised

The North Whitehall planning commissioners said they needed more information and time to review the proposed Strawberry Acres development plans.

The North Whitehall Township Planning Commission recently delayed its vote on the proposed Strawberry Acres housing development in Laurys Station because members need more information and time to review the plans, according to Lehigh Valley Live.

The commissioners voted to table developer 5007 Overlooks Road LLC's plan at their meeting last Tuesday, which was held at the Schnecksville Fire Company to accommodate the large crowd that was expected, according to news reports.

The developer presented a new plan that reduced the number of multi-family homes and townhouses from 144 units to more than 80 in a 55-plus community on 25 acres at 5007 Overlook Road, according to Lehigh Valley Live.

Commissioner Leonard Nuss and residents said at the meeting they are concerned about the developer's plan for an on-site sewage treatment plant, according to The Morning Call.

Residents have expressed concerns about increased traffic and that the character of the neighborhood would be changed.

The developers have previously said they plan to continue using about 100 acres as a working farm.
