LCCC's ELC Hosts a Reading by Rita Perez

Lehigh
Carbon Community College hosts a reading by Rita Perez, Pennsylvania Department
of Education Deputy Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education on behalf
of Pennsylvania’s One Book, Every Child Program on Tuesday, April 1,5 at 11
a.m. in the Early Learning Center of LCCC Main Campus’ Fowler Education Center.



 



Perez will
read the program’s selected title, Stripes
of All Types
, written and illustrated by Susan Stockdale, a story that
explores how animals around the world benefit from their stripes.

Pennsylvania’s
One Book, Every Child Program supports early literacy efforts for more than
545,000 children throughout the commonwealth.  The program is based on studies observing
increased literacy among preschool children when they are engaged in activities
such as discussing a book's cover and illustrations, the action in the book,
favorite parts, and engage in play associated with the book.
