LCCC Unveils New Athletics Logo at Fan Appreciation Night

– Led by athletics director Jocelyn Beck, Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) unveiled its new athletics logo last night at the college’s Fan Appreciation Night in the college’s gymnasium on main campus in Schnecksville, Pa. The men’s and women’s basketball teams took on the Trailblazers of Luzerne County Community College. Both Lehigh Carbon teams won their games.

LCCC unveiled its new athletics logo to a standing room only crowd of more than 200 LCCC Cougar fans. The new logo comes after a rigorous process of polling LCCC alumni, students, staff and faculty and members of the community.

“It really was an inclusive process – involving everyone on-campus and community members throughout the Lehigh Valley and Schuylkill and Carbon counties,” explained Jocelyn Beck, LCCC director of athletics. “Recommendations and thoughts on what should be represented were very helpful when we began working with the designers.”

The unveiling event included T-shirts giveaways, bumper stickers and magnets for fans in attendance. The LCCC bookstore is offering many new sweatshirt designs, mugs and other paraphernalia at a discount to help spread the word.

The logo was designed by New Jersey-based, Phoenix Design Works, which drew inspiration from in-depth conversations with college representatives.

“Phoenix [Design Works] really went the extra mile for us,” Beck explained. “It’s really a pride thing for us,” she said. “Our students and staff and the community can wear their new LCCC gear proudly!”
