Thursday: Learn How a Neurotic Dog Became a Champ

Here's what's going on in and around North Whitehall on Thursday:

• Love dogs? Join Connie Newcomb, author of "Dog Show Confidential: Sneaking in the Back Door of Westminster," to learn about how she turned a neurotic, man-hating Chihuahua puppy into a champion, winning an Award of Merit at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club dog show at Madison Square Garden. The Book Signing and Talk is at 7 p.m. at Parkland Community Library in South Whitehall.

• Take a walk, at the Trexler Nature Preserve. The Central Range is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Oct. 31. Directions are available here.

• Listen to music. At the Molten Lounge at Sands Bethlehem, the Johnny Drama band begins entertaining at 8:30 p.m.

• St. Joseph The Worker Parish in Orefield will host its weekly I.H.S. night, a group for teens, by teens and about teens and ministry at 7 p.m. The Senior program is for teens in grades 9 through 12. The Junior High program is for teens in grades 6 through 8.
